If, like me and countless thousands of others, the start of the New Year means the start of a “detox” then today’s news from more than 300 PhD and post-doctorate students working in science that it’s all bunkum, will have had many falling off the wagon before it has even started.
But before you reach for the bottle, the chocolate, the cigs or whatever else ails you, its worth noting that the report restricts itself to products that are put on sale rather the application of some post-festive will power.
Come on…. footpads which remove toxins and gels to improve skin impurities always did sound fairly unlikely!
I like senior pathologist, Sir Colin Berry’s advice: “It’s easy to detox; just let you body use the great systems it has evolved over thousands of years to get rid of whatever is harming you. But if it’s booze, drink less as well.”
So on the sober wagon I stay for January. Smoothie anyone?
Detox products might not work but will power does

I’m into day 2 of the porridge and soup (not together) diet. It probably wouldn’t need to be so austere if I hadn’t kept Mr Kiplings in business over Christmas.
